OVH School of Nursing

SON_logoThe Ohio Valley Hospital School of Nursing was founded in 1901 as a 3 year diploma-nursing program. With our first student graduate in 1904, we established a long-standing tradition of excellence amongst our student nurses. You can read about the commencement ceremony of our first graduate, Annabell McAnulty, here.

About Us

We proudly claim a reputation for providing a high-quality nursing education, one which prepares graduates to enter the practice of nursing. Graduates of our school maintain a high degree of success on the PA State Board of Nursing licensing exam, NCLEX-RN, as evidenced by a consistently high first-time pass rate for graduates.

OVH-SONPatchFINALBLUEandGOLDGraduates are eligible to take the same Registered Nursing Licensing exam (NCLEX-RN) required of graduates from Associate Degree (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs, which allow entry into the nursing practice.

Our full time program accepts 50 students annually, and offers up to 10 full-tuition scholarships. Please see our Admission Qualifications/Requirements section for information on these scholarships.

School Partnership

Addressing the needs of the professional nurse and changing healthcare demands, the school has an affiliation with a local college. This relationship enables students to earn 26-30 general education credits while working toward achieving their diploma in nursing. Graduates benefit by having a broad educational base for their nursing practice, as well as having credits to transfer toward their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
