OVH School of Radiography
Ohio Valley Hospital is proud to partner with La Roche University for our 24 month Radiologic Technology Program. This successful program celebrated its 50th commencement in August of 2015. This is a competitive program that only accepts nine students each year. Upon graduation, each student is granted both a certificate in Radiologic Technology from the Ohio Valley Hospital School of Radiography and an Associate Degree in Science with a concentration in Radiologic Technology from La Roche University.
We are no longer accepting applications for the Class of 2021. We will be accepting applications in August for the Class of 2022 Please call 412-777-6210 with any questions.
The Ohio Valley Hospital / La Roche University Radiography Program is a full-time, primarily daylight program, and mandates attendance during two summers.
Our incoming classes start at the end of August. Our New Student Orientation is held annually in mid-July. Although schedules may vary, students typically attend classes at the Hospital 2 to 3 days per week during the fall and spring semesters, and 3 to 5 days per week during summer sessions.
What is The Field of Radiologic Technology?
A radiologic technologist, or radiographer, is a healthcare professional who plays an important role in patient care by assisting with the diagnosis and treatment of illness and disease. Through the use of x-rays, radiologic technologists perform sophisticated diagnostic imaging tests that uncover a wide range of medical conditions, helping doctors determine the best course of treatment for their patients.
Upon graduation, job opportunities include, but are not limited to:
- Physicians’ offices
- Imaging centers
- Mobile imaging companies
Why Choose Us?
- We offer a competitive program built on the foundation of radiologic technology theory and clinical experience
- We have smaller class sizes and offer individualized instruction
- An opportunity to experience OVH’s Diagnostic and Imaging Services departments
- Earn a certification in Diagnostic Radiology and an Associate’s degree in Science in 24 months!
- Between 2013-2017, 100% of our graduates were placed in a job in the field of Radiologic Technology within 1 year after graduation
As previously mentioned, the Ohio Valley Hospital School of Radiography partners with La Roche University for our Radiologic Technologist Program. With this program, students are given the chance to enjoy both theoretical and clinical studies, in addition to taking various General Education Requirements. They also benefit from an “on campus” experience if they choose to live in the La Roche dorms.
After graduation, our students are eligible to take the national certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Students passing the national certification examination with a score of 75% or higher are then recognized professionally as registered radiologic technologists.
Many of our graduates actually go on to obtain their Bachelor’s Degree, as they are half way finished with said degree upon graduation from our program!
