Diabetes Day 2019
Turning Over a New Leaf: Preventing Diabetes Complications
Our 11th Annual Diabetes Day was a Huge Success!
Thinking Positively. Eating Healthy. Exercising Often. Feeling Good. = Our 2019 Diabetes Day Motto!
This year’s event welcomed nearly 170 community members to our campus. It featured a wide variety of activities enjoyed by all, including:
Choose This, Not That
Have you ever gone to the grocery store and wondered what both tastes good and is good for you? Diabetes Educator Susan Zikos walked the audience through a Live Healthy Grocery Shopping Demonstration to showcase what the “right” choices were!
Cook This, Not That
A Healthy (yet delicious!) Food Demonstration which featured a Tuscan White Bean Soup made by our Nutrition Services department, our Nutrition Services Director, Chef Tom, and the grocery list items found by Susan.
The ABC’s of Free Testing
Once again, we provided the following screenings free of charge through our various services and schools:
- Blood Pressure
- Dexa Scan
- Foot Checks
- Glucose test
- Weight, Height, and BMI Checks
A Community Room
Filled with local groups who have the shared goal of keeping you safe and healthy.
An Information Area
A room chock-full of even MORE must-have Diabetes and Healthy Lifestyle pamphlets, guides, and booklets.
A special thanks to Ohio Valley Hospital School of Nursing and School of Radiography students, our Laboratory, and The Wound Care Center for providing scans and testing for attendees!
