Types of Treatment
At Ohio Valley Hospital’s The Wound Care Center®, our treatment plans are customized to each patient’s needs. Some of the treatments and procedures we work with are listed below.
A skin graft takes a piece of healthy skin and surgically transplants it onto a new site on the body.
Wound-Related Outpatient Surgical Procedures
An example of a wound-related outpatient surgical procedure is wound debridement; the removal of dead skin or foreign material from an open wound.
Total Contact Casting
A gold standard wound dressing that is specially designed to take the weight off of the foot in patients with diabetic foot ulcers.
Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT)
A vacuum dressing to promote healing in acute or chronic wounds.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
The latest advances in wound care include Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). While a patient rests quietly in a lightly-pressurized chamber, the body’s natural healing process is kicked into overdrive by the influx of pure oxygen.
Hyperbaric oxygen, highly favored by recovering professional athletes, helps a variety of conditions, including:
- Crush injuries
- Necrotizing soft tissue infections
- Radiation tissue damage
- Skin grafts and flaps
- Diabetic wounds of the lower extremity
- Acute traumatic injury
We offer a wide variety of additional wound treatments at The Wound Care Center®.
