Our Lymphedema Therapist is certified by the Dr. Vodder School International and treats patients with swelling associated with a compromised lymphatic system.
Your lymphatic system is considered the waste removal system of the body. When this system is compromised, it may not be able to filter fluids and waste as productively. This can lead to swelling of any number of body parts, including arms, legs, face/neck, and the chest wall. This condition produces an unhealthy environment for your skin tissues.
Our Therapist is able to do a series of Combined Decongestive Therapies which will help you produce healthier skin as well as a fluid reduction of tissues, or an edema reduction. In addition, you will be able to increase your Activities of Daily Living (ADL), such as dressing yourself.
At Ohio Valley Hospital, we use a combined decongestive therapy to rid your body of excess fluid.
- Manual Lymph Drainage
- Massage and skin manipulation of the affected area.
- Skin Care
- Bandage Wrapping
- Custom-Fit Garments
This combination will help your body reabsorb the fluid as well as flush it out. You may see results in one to two months of consistent treatment.
You must make an appointment to be seen by our Therapist. You must have a doctor referral to be seen.
Our office hours are Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
We accept most forms of insurance. Upon your evaluation, you may want to reach out to your insurance company to discuss what elements of treatment will be covered.
