Ohio Valley Hospital’s (OVH) Nutrition Services Department offers patients nutritional aid in their recovery process. Our goal is to serve nutritious and great-tasting meals that provide each patient with the proper nourishment for his or her condition. We recognize the important of food being delivered on time, by our service staff, and prepared to the proper temperature with top quality ingredients and presentation.
OVH has partnered with Aramark Healthcare Services, leaders in healthcare and acute care dining, who continue to focus on delivering an exceptional dining experience for our patients and providing clinical expertise by creating nutritious menus designed to enhance the patient’s recovery.
At Ohio Valley Hospital, we also offer comprehensive counseling for patients in need of diabetes counseling and outpatient nutrition counseling with our onsite Diabetes Educator and Inpatient Dietitian.
Our inpatient menus, created just for you, offer a wide variety of fresh made-to-order options that include fresh salads, homemade soups, and entrees made from scratch. Our hostess will visit each patient daily to review tasty menu options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The hostess is patient-focused, well-versed on menu selections, and works in concert with the Hospital’s Inpatient Dietitian to assure that patients are offered food choices that will meet their nutritional needs.
Nutritional Risk Screening
Each patient admitted to OVH is screened for nutritional risk. When a patient is flagged for nutritional risk, our Inpatient Dietitian will be assigned to visit within 24 hours to complete a more detailed assessment and prescribe a plan of action that may include diet education, diet modification, supplementation of diet, or the use of alternative forms of nutrition support.
Patients suffering from diet-related, long-term illnesses like diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease or cancer are often referred to Outpatient Dietitian services following discharge from the Hospital.
Our patients and their family members, along with community members, can also enjoy our nutrition offerings in OVH’s Cafeteria! This includes a tasty salad bar, soups, entrees, and the Head Chef’s action station (a real crowd-pleaser). We also have made-to-order Panini’s and a full grill. Our outside patio is open during the spring and summer months, weather permitting, to enjoy outside dining.
