Highlighting OVH Volunteers During Annual Appreciation Week

Ohio Valley Hospital (OVH) loves our volunteer base. This dedicated group helps to keep us running as a well-oiled machine. The 2019 National Volunteer Week runs from April 7th through the 13th. It is a time for us to appreciate and honor the hard work of our team, made up of 100 volunteers! During this esteemed week, we would like to introduce two of our stellar community members who have given a lot of their time to Ohio Valley Hospital, Grace and Kay!

Grace Markovich

After working in a hospital setting for 25 years, Grace began volunteering as an OVH front desk greeter in 1988. She had no idea that she would be volunteering at the same hospital more than 30 years later. Grace stayed because she enjoys meeting and talking with people, as well as feeling productive, or, as she puts it, “I feel useful.” Grace has consistently been a loyal and dedicated hospital volunteer who she commits to doing her best.

What’s her volunteer tagline? “If you say you are going to do it, do it,” she says.

Kay Gloor

From patient room service to clerical duties, Kay has spent the last 30 years volunteering at OVH, and has seen the development of the hospital over the years. She’s served in different buildings with a long history of employees and fellow volunteers, and has enjoyed her time thus far. Simply put, she likes it, because, “Volunteering at the hospital gives me the chance to meet and help people.”

OVH’s volunteer program allows for community members to serve in different areas of the hospital in roles they would feel the most comfortable with, from greeting people at the Front Desk, to performing clerical work for the School of Nursing. We’d love to find you a role that suits your interests!
