Serving the residents of Pittsburgh’s western suburbs, Ohio Valley Hospital (OVH) – formerly Ohio Valley General Hospital (OVGH) – is a 124-bed not-for-profit hospital in Kennedy Township.
First established in the 1890s as a place to treat railroad workers, Ohio Valley Hospital now features a wide range of medical and surgical services. These include acute inpatient care, geriatric and outpatient psychiatry, orthopedics, and acute rehabilitation services. We also offer personal care and independent living for seniors, as well as dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
Today, it is Ohio Valley Hospital’s mission to provide programs and services that improve the quality of life of community members across our service area. Our staff and administration strive to provide caring, cost-effective, and friendly health care. We view safety and quality as top priorities — while also encouraging innovative and creative approaches to improving patient outcomes.
Our recent name change signals our continuing efforts at keeping OVH at the forefront of health care changes; with the implementation of state-of-the-art medical technology, a first-rate medical staff, offering a more personal patient experience, and a new, modern look. Based on our track record of positive patient outcomes and inspections, OVH has been accredited by The Joint Commission.
Our facilities also serve as a training center for future health care professionals. The Ohio Valley School of Nursing (OVHSON) offers a 19-month RN diploma program, fully accredited by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing (PASBON), the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, and the Department of Education.
The Ohio Valley Hospital School of Radiography (OVHSOR) partners with La Roche College for our Radiography Program. This prestigious and dual effort offers a 24-month certificate in Radiologic Technology from OVHSOR and an Associate Degree in Health Science with a concentration in Radiologic Technology from La Roche University. The Ohio Valley Hospital/La Roche University Radiography Program is accredited by The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.
As an independent community hospital, we treat our patients like family –- compassionately, close to home, and with a dedication to clinical excellence.
