Radiology & Medical Imaging
Advanced imaging is often the key to diagnosing a health problem and beginning a successful healing process. From mammography screenings and general x-rays to CT, MRI, and PET-CT, we provide a full spectrum of leading-edge diagnostic imaging services and interventional procedures.
Imaging Services
MAMMOGRAPHY
Recommended annual mammograms for women over 40 can show changes in the breast up to two years before a patient or her physician can feel them, and early detection is our most powerful tool in the battle against breast cancer.
BONE DENSITY SCREENING
Bone Densitometry scanning measures bone loss, and is helpful in determining whether diet supplements, medication, or other therapies will be needed to prevent osteoporosis and lower the risk of injury as people, especially women, age.
INTRAVENOUS PYELOGRAM (IVP)
An intravenous pyelogram (IVP) is a series of x-rays taken at timed intervals after injection of a dye solution. This exam helps your physician assess abnormalities in the urinary tract, to judge how efficiently your system processes waste, and to aid in understanding symptoms like blood in the urine or pain in the side or lower back.
LOWER GASTROINTESTINAL (GI) TRACT X-RAY
Lower GI tract radiography is an x-ray examination of the lower portions of your alimentary canal. The procedure assists doctors in understanding symptoms like:
| • Chronic diarrhea | • Blood in stools | • Constipation |
| • Irritable bowel syndrome | • A change in bowel habits | • Abdominal pain |
| • Unexplained weight loss | • Suspected blood loss |
CT SCAN
A CT (Computed Tomography) scan is a noninvasive medical test that uses special x-ray equipment to produce images of the soft tissues of the body that do not show clearly on a traditional x-ray. CT scanning is commonly used to diagnose problems such as cancers, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, trauma, and musculoskeletal disorders.
CT ANGIOGRAPHY (CTA)
Angiography is a minimally invasive technology that may use several methods to produce images of major blood vessels, or blood flow, throughout the body. They are typically ordered to detect abnormalities like aneurysms or atherosclerosis in the head, chest, and kidneys, or to detect other pathologies of the circulatory system.
PET/CT SCAN
A PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography) detects minute amounts of a radio-isotope injected into your body, and highlights areas with increased or diminished metabolism. A PET/CT scan is typically used to diagnose and track cancer, and to assess some cardiovascular and neurological diseases.
MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, is a painless, non-invasive diagnostic test that allows radiologists to see areas of the body invisible to conventional x-rays. Since our physicians can detect so many conditions at their earliest, most treatable stages; improvements in MRI technology have led to great strides in successful medical treatment.
MR ANGIOGRAPHY (MRA)
MR Angiography uses a combination of non-invasive and minimally-invasive technologies to view blood vessels. They are typically required to diagnose a variety of disorders related to impediments to healthy blood flow throughout the body.
