Respiratory Care

Ohio Valley General Hospital respiratory care practitioners provide therapeutic and diagnostic services related to the treatment of patients with lung or breathing problems.  Services include oxygen assessment and administration, critical care, various treatment modalities, pulmonary function tests and fiberoptic bronchoscopy.  Results of diagnostic tests are reviewed and interpreted by physicians specializing in lung disorders.  For further information, or to schedule an outpatient appointment, call (412)777-6157.

Out-patient testing includes:

 Pulmonary function tests

• Spirometry, lung volumes and diffusion
• Bronchial provocation or methacholine challenge
• Arterial blood gas

Pulse oximetry

• Six minute walk test
• Pre and post exercise
