Join us for our Annual Community 5K walk & run
Want to join a challenging race that’s part of a long-standing community tradition? Why not try Ohio Valley Hospital/Kennedy Township’s Community 5K, “For the Hill of it?” This annual race always start off at OVH’s main entrance. A local D.J. plays you onto the course, and a breakfast and awards ceremony awaits all particpants and volunteers after the race. The first 200 registered participants are also guaranteed a t-shirt. CPR and Continuing Education

Living Well with Diabetes
Our program is designed to help empower the person with Type 1, Type 2, Gestational diabetes, or pre-diabetes to lead a healthier life. “Living Well with Diabetes” is accredited by the American Diabetes Association and offers self-management training through individual consultations, group education classes, and/or support groups. Daytime and evening appointments are available to fit your schedule. Most insurance companies will cover the cost of these visits. Please call (412) 777-6205 for more information.
Diabetes Support Group meets throughout the year. This is a group for people to share ideas and stories about life with diabetes. Each meeting, a short talk by a health professional helps to start the conversation about diabetic resources, coping strategies, medication, nutrition or exercise. This is a service offered free to the community, but please register by calling 412-777-6205.

Our Annual Diabetes Alert Day will be Tuesday, March 24, 2015, from 9am to 1 pm. The event will be located in the auditorium on the first floor of our School of Nursing building. Along with vendor booths, there will be plenty of information available on diabetes supplies. You’ll be able to see cooking demonstrations, participate in games, and have the chance to win door prizes. There will be health screenings as well. The event will also feature several lectures on the different aspects of diabetes. For more information about the event, and to register, please call the Diabetes Educator at 412-777-6205.
